Not everybody is born with the inbuilt sense of self confidence. Occasionally it may be hard to acquire self-confidence, either as a result of personal experiences that have caused you to lose self-confidence, or should you suffer from low self esteem.
There are a few things that that are useful that you can do to construct your confidence. A few of them are only little changes to your frame of mind, yet others are things you need to work on for a bit more time to make them common customs.
1. Look at what you have already attained
Sometimes it can be simple to focus on that which you haven’t done. It is an easy task to reduce self-confidence in case you are feeling just like you haven’t attained anything. Focusing on things you’ve got done, little or large, can help you get perspective on all your gifts and skills.
Jot down an inventory of all the things you are proud of in your life. Consider the things that you’ve reached, whether it’s getting a great mark on an examination as well as learning to ride a bike. Keep this list close and add to it when you are doing something you’re proud of. Pull out this list, when you are low in confidence and use it to remind yourself of all the amazing items you’ve done.
2. Think of things you are not bad at
Everyone has talents and strengths, what are yours? Have a look at our fact sheet on strengths and work out the way you can build on yours. Trying to build on those things and recognising what you are good at might be an extremely useful way of building confidence in your own capabilities.
3. Set some goals
Set some goals and aim to realize them. You will prove to yourself what you’re capable of reaching, by demonstrating to yourself that you simply may get things done. They don’t have to be huge aims; they can be things like planning a night out with pals or baking a cake. Just little items which can be ticked off a list and help you gain self-confidence in your capacity to get stuff done.
4. Talk yourself up
You are never going to feel assured should you have an adverse commentary running throughout your head telling you you’re no good. Think about your self-talk and the way that may be changing your self-confidence. 5. Get a hobby
Try to get something which you are actually enthusiastic about. Do you prefer playing? Like building model trains? Think of some of the things you’re truly curious in and devote yourself. Finding things that you’re enthusiastic about can help you find stuff that you’re not bad at. Chances are, if you are interested or passionate of a certain activity you’re likely to not be bad at it too.
